Friendship is that relationship that makes the world a better place. It makes you a better person. It can make you feel crazy or just secure.

A friend is that person (apart from your mother) who will always be there for you and love you no matter what, that person who will be by your side when everyone runs away.

Everyone wants to be somebody. Personally, I think the best thing you can do with your life is be a friend. That’s not hard at all. Here are some tips that might help you make some true friends:

  • Be opened to new relationships and communicative.
  • Try to care about people because if you do that, people tend to care back.
  • Trust the ones around you. If they’re not worth your trust, you will see it soon enough.
  • Have fun with anyone and don’t hesitate to be yourself around the ones who don’t know you. If they will like you for something that you are not, they might not like who you really are.
  • Help people with the smallest things. Everything counts. Just don’t let them use you.
  • Share your interest, but not your secrets. It takes time to gain that kind of trust.
  • Don’t tell them about everything in your life; they might not want to hear about it.
  • Offer to do stuff for them when they don’t ask you to. That’s a cute thing to do even if you’ve known them forever.
  • Try to be optimistic and cheerful when you’re around them. That will make them feel better when they are with you.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask them if you need anything, but don’t bother too much if they refuse to help you; they might have a reason.
  • Don’t insist on anything too much because you don’t know their real reasons.
  • Don’t believe everything they tell you. If there is something that you doubt, you have the right to doubt it. Just don’t make a big deal out of it because they wouldn’t want to do something to hurt you.
  • Do something that they like even if you don’t like it. They might appreciate it.
  • Don’t talk about your beloved one too much, unless they want to hear about it.
  • Don’t talk about your problems too much, unless they want to know.

Life is short. You have to live it with no regrets. That’s why you should try doing some of these things with your friends before you die:

  • Sing at the karaoke. (Even if you can’t sing.)
  • Go on a long trip far away from all your problems.
  • Throw a huge party.
  • Get in trouble. (Everything is fun when you’re in it together.)
  • Do your homework together. (Even that can be fun with them.)
  • Cook together. (Even if you’re bad at it.)
  • Make a notebook with your life after you met.
  • Get drunk/high.
  • Do something that they like. (Even if you don’t like it.)
  • Try to be less selfish at least on holidays and make them enjoy themselves.
  • Take photos when you look like crap. (You will be able to laugh about them later.)
  • Play some stupid kid’s game.
  • Make them small gifts for no reason.
  • Share intimate secrets that you’ve never told anyone before.
  • Criticize people together. (It might turn out to be really fun and you have the chance to see their opinion on how someone should be.)

You have to be there when a friend needs a hand…

  • If your friend has trouble at school, learn and work with him. That will make his work a lot easier.
  • If your friend just broke up with his beloved one, criticize that fool with him and make him laugh. That will make him get over it much easier than if you tell him that there are plenty other fish in the sea.
  • If your friend is having a rough time and doesn’t want to tell you anything about it, try to understand him and when you are with him, make him forget all his problems.
  • If your friend has problems with drugs/alcohol, don’t judge him. Try to get him distracted from these temptations. If all else fails, get him addicted to chocolate.
  • If you friend suffers from depression and is thinking about suicide, talk to him, but don’t pressure him into any discussion. He will talk to you when he feels ready. Meanwhile, keep him busy and happy, away from his problems.

Important! Don’t step over yourself. If you really care about your friends and if you know they are true, it’s alright to do things their way once in a while, just remember that you are not supposed to do that all the time. Don’t be selfish, but remember that they’re not supposed to rule your life in any way.

Bear in mind! Friends come and go, true friends last forever (or until you/they die).
