So, you’re sitting there in front of your laptop or in front of a piece of paper and you start writing down everything you wish to accomplish this year. You look back and realize that most of the things you want to do this year are the same things you tried to do last year and the year before and so on... But why is this year different? Because you think you are determined to do it right this year. You feel confident...until you’re done writing. Then, a sad feeling overwhelms you. You realize how many things you need to do. You don’t feel so confident now.
New Year’s Resolutions focus on everything you wish you could do, everything you need but don’t have, everyone you should treat better and all the things that make you not good enough. Sure, it’s good to try and be a better person every year, but cut yourself some slack... I have a little experiment for you.
Instead of focusing on everything that needs to be done this year, why not focus on everything you’ve accomplished last year? You might say you didn’t accomplish much, but let me prove you wrong.
Do you think anyone could have gotten this far with work or school like you did? The answer is no. You are so smart for making it this far! You worked your ass off and you deserve to be proud of that, so congratz!
Think of all the people you helped in the last year. Even if you think you didn’t help anyone, just remember that a simple smile from you might have just brightened up someone’s day. Plus, you are the reason why someone masturbates! That’s a compliment... Good job!
Sure, last year might have brought some misery on you with sad events, but look at you standing strong! You made it to another year! Be confident!
Think about how much you evolved last year. Maybe you can’t see it, but even if it’s just a small change of mind, you’ve changed. Even if you think you might have changed for worse, that is not true. Life is giving you challenges, changing the way you think, in order to prepare you for new challenges. And you’re ready for whatever life throws at you!
I’m sure you can think of a lot of other things you did right last year, so I will let you think about it. Just remember, sometimes you just need to focus on how awesome you are and stop complaining about what you don’t have or what you can’t do. You’ll be just fine, I promise!
